Big Box Update

Well, it's been an awfully long time since I've updated this blog, and an awful lot has happened since my last post.

THE BOX MOVED. SEE TOUR BELOW.

Our new space is amazing and such amazing things have been happening since we have made the move over to 2nd and Gold Avenue. We have more space, more support and most importantly, MORE BATHROOMS.

We finished out our 2009 season with Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr. in the New Space, and all I can say is thank goodness because the cast was huge. The most kids Cardboard Playhouse Productions has ever worked with... ever.

The 2010 Cardboard Playhouse Production Season is full of so much fun. We've decided to go with a gangster theme this year, so we are doing "Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr.," "Bugsy Malone Jr.," "Guys and Dolls Jr.," and "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever."

The Best Christmas Pageant ever holds a very special place in my heart. 10 years ago I assistant directed Pageant at Albuquerque Little Theatre. I made many friends with the kids in this cast and oddly, when I came back from college I was able to reconnect with many of these kids, now all grown up. My mother and my sister were cast in the show, and it was a very defining show for my family. My mother saw all the work that went into putting on a show, and my passion for theatre, and I think she realized that I could actually someday make it my career. I'm so close to making this all a reality. Hopefully by the time Pageant makes it's debut on The Box's stage I'll be able to work at the theatre full time. Wouldn't that be a Christmas miracle?

I miss our old space. It will be weird to see something move into the space that so much magic happened in. I know that magic has followed us to the new space. When it was all empty after we had moved everything out, it was so hard to picture that theatre had ever been there. A theatre that at many times housed about 20 kids and anywhere from 50-60 adults ALL AT THE SAME TIME. It's so small. But it served us so well. Thank you Old Box.

I know this new year holds so many new, wonderful, and magical opportunities for me and the theatre. It's going to be one to remember. Keep an eye out, I really do hope to update this on a more regular basis.

All the love,
Kristin
